INCLEMENT WEATHER UPDATE:
We are aware of the Heat Advisory and are actively monitoring the latest weather updates.
Safety is our number one priority. Here are some of the precautions we are taking on-site:
- There will be plenty of water bottles, Gatorade, and ice available
- Frequent breaks to hydrate and rest
- The work day typically ends around 3pm, but we may wrap up early if the weather conditions become too uncomfortable or dangerous
If you do not feel comfortable volunteering tomorrow, we understand - please Unregister from the opportunity as soon as possible.
Thank you for signing up to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake. We are looking forward to having you on site but first, please be sure to READ the bullet points below.
- Please arrive by 8:30 for check-in so we can promptly start our Orientation by 8:45.
- Please wear closed footed shoes. This means no Crocs!
- Please wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty.
- Tasks and responsibilities vary based on the construction schedule. Please check the Volunteer Hub a week before your scheduled volunteer date in order to see your tasks. Please be aware that these expected tasks may change before you arrive based on the nature of construction scheduling and potential weather.
- Please bring a lunch as there will not be time to get a lunch and eat it.
- We rely on volunteers to meet our construction schedule so if you need to cancel, please Unregister yourself from the volunteer opportunity as soon as possible. This frees up a spot for someone else to sign up.
- Volunteers are expected to stay from 8:30 until the day is over, which is typically around 3.
- 16-17 year old's may volunteer on the construction site but they must have a chaperone and they cannot use power tools. They must complete a separate profile and sign-up.
