Thank you for your interest in completing court-ordered community service hours at Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake. 

 THIS POLICY APPLIES TO ANYONE COMPLETING SERVICE HOURS BEFORE COURT, DURING COURT, OR AFTER COURT. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS PROCESS WILL DISQULAIFY YOU FROM RECEIVING A LETTER OF CONFIRMATION. 

Any individual looking to complete court-ordered service hours MUST CONTACT AND GAIN APPROVAL from the Volunteer Coordinator before signing up or starting any volunteer work. Walk-ins are not permitted.

 

TO START VOLUNTEERING: Email the Volunteer Coordinator (volunteer@habitatchesapeake.org) with "Community Service Hours for Court" in the subject line.

  5. What is the nature of your offense(s) (traffic violation, DWI/DUI, etc.):
  6. How many service hours you need:
  7. Date you would like to start volunteering:
  8. Date service hours must be completed by:

PLEASE NOTE: Any individuals interested in serving court-ordered community service hours must be at least 18 years old. 

Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake DOES NOT accept court-ordered community service for any of the following:

  • Any felonies
  • Any form of theft; including but not limited to burglary, larceny, petty theft, etc.
  • Any violent crimes; including but not limited to assault, domestic violence, etc.
  • Any sexual offenses

 

Once the service hours are completed, please email volunteer@habitatchesapeake.org with “Requesting Confirmation of Volunteer Hours” in the subject line.

Please submit your confirmation request at least 7 days (Tuesday - Saturday) before the date you need the service verification letter. The volunteer is responsible for requesting, obtaining, and sending their verification letter/forms to the court. In the email please include:

  • Your name
  • If you need this for school, court, etc.
  • Date you need the confirmation letter by.
  • Any other information you may need in the confirmation letter. Examples being: if you need every date you volunteered or the types of tasks completed.
